Our Pack & Ship Promise

You don’t have to worry about a thing at The UPS Store of Fort Lauderdale. If an item packed by our associates and shipped via UPS is damaged or lost, you’ll be reimbursed for the item’s value (subject to the lesser of actual value, replacement or repair cost), the full retail price of packaging materials and services, and shipping charges (excluding declared value charges). Custom Packaging

Large or odd-shaped items often require specialized packaging. The UPS Store of Fort Lauderdale locations offer custom handling and packaging, from blanket wrap to custom cartons, crating, shrink-wrapping and palletizing. Your neighborhood location can advise you on the best packaging method needed for your item(s).

Packaging Tips:

DO include a label on the inside of the package with both the destination address and your package return address.
DO take batteries out of toys, electronics, etc., before shipping.
DO check with The UPS Store of Fort Lauderdale experts before shipping fragile items.
DO ship wrapped presents ahead to your destination, especially if traveling by air.

DON'T wrap boxes in brown paper or tie with string.
DON'T use materials like newspaper or real popcorn to package items.
DON'T use old boxes or gift boxes for shipping gifts.
DON'T use duct tape, masking tape, or cellophane tape to seal your boxes for shipping.

Our Certified Packing Experts pack your gifts right and we stand behind our service. We promise.

If The UPS Store of Fort Lauderdale® packs your item and ships it via UPS and that item is damaged or lost in transit, you’ll be reimbursed:

The item’s value (subject to the lesser of actual value, replacement or repair cost per the UPS Tariff/Terms and Conditions of Service)
The full retail price you paid for packaging materials and services
Your cost for shipping (excluding Declared Value charges)

If you do not declare the value of the item at the time of the transaction and purchase Declared Value for that amount, your maximum reimbursement for the item’s value is $100.

The Pack & Ship Promise applies to packages:

Packed by associates, and using only new materials purchased at a participating location
Shipped, by the location that packed it, via UPS on the center’s UPS account to any domestic or international destination serviced by UPS

The Promise does not apply to:

Shipments processed through UPS.com or on your UPS account
Customer-packed packages
Items packed in materials provided free-of-charge by any carrier
Items shipped via UPS Freight, UPS Supply Chain Solutions or any other carrier
Items excluded or restricted from transportation by UPS or in violation of the UPS Tariff/Terms and Conditions of Service

What do I need to do to have my packages protected by the Pack & Ship Promise?

Just take your item to a participating location and let our certified packing experts handle the rest. We will professionally pack and ship your item via UPS. You should know the value of your item to obtain Declared Value protection if the value of the item exceeds $100.

Does the Pack & Ship Promise cost extra?

No.

If I don’t purchase Declared Value on my item, how much will I be reimbursed?

You will be reimbursed up to $100 for your item (subject to the lesser of the actual value, replacement cost or repair cost per the UPS Tariff/Terms and Conditions of Service), the full retail price you paid for packaging materials and services, and your cost for shipping.

Are the charges for Declared Value reimbursed?

No. The fee you pay to have your package protected by the UPS Declared Value option will not be reimbursed.

How do I know if my package is protected by the Pack & Ship Promise?

Your shipment receipt (not sales receipt) will indicate that your package is protected by the Pack & Ship Promise, or ask an associate at the time of transaction.

What do I do if my package is lost?

If you believe your package is lost, please contact us so that a tracking system search can be conducted. You’ll need to provide your receipt in the event of a claim, so please keep it.

What do I do if my package is damaged?

If your package was damaged in transit, please complete our claim form to report the damage. You’ll need to have your shipping receipt available, so please keep it. The recipient must retain the box and all packaging materials along with the item until we have contacted you.
